Does Continuous Use Of Benazepril HCTZ Cause Elevated Potassium Level In Blood?
First, I must apologize for not getting
back to you with the results of your
information regarding the possible
effect of Benazepril HCTZ upon my
potassium level.
I'm pleased to report that your
suggestion that it could be the cause of my elevated potassium
level was right on target. In response, I stopped taking it for a
couple of days and my potassium
level dropped well within the normal range. I plan to check with
my Dr. for a possible substitute, or
perhaps reduce my present medication to one tab every two days.
Many thanks for your prompt and
very effective information.

I have a question along similar lines to the previous question concerning the possible
effect of Colpiddgrel (75 MG) upon the lowering of my red blood count (4.49) and hemoglobin (13.0). Looking forward to your response.
Thanks for your help,

I would explain as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello again, dear XXXXXXX
I am glad to hear you are OK and your potassium level has returned to normal values.
Regarding Clopidogrel, I would explain that it may exert several potential adverse hematological effects, like thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, aplastic anemia, agranulocytosis, neutropenia.
Bleeding (especially gastrointestinal) may be caused by Clopidogrel too.
In case your red blood cells level as well as other cellular lines (white blood cells and platelets) have dropped from the previous complete blood counts tests and especially if bleeding signs (for example presence of dark stool, of skin haemorrhagic lesions, nose bleeding, etc.) then you should discuss with your prescribing doctor on the possibility of an underlying Clopidogrel adverse effect and follow additional medical tests to confirm this suspicion.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
In case of any further uncertainties, do not hesitate to ask me again.
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
