Question: yes, i want to know if the d-limonene extracted by cold pressing grapefruit peels will have an adverse effect on the sirolimus i take for my kidney transplant? Brief Answer:
No documented interaction known
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
I have gone through the interaction check and there is no documented interaction profile between them.
Here is what I suggest
1. Speak to your doctor about starting limonene
2. Check your sirolimus level on day 2 and one week after starting limonene.
Monitoring of the sirolimus is the only way to find out the interaction
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards

Hello
Thanks for getting back
I think you have taken a wise decision by going against taking this drug.
Your weight issues could be secondary to some of the drugs you are taking.
Please get back to me with the drugs you are on currently

i take prednisone and sirolimus for my kidney transplant. i take citalopram, divalproex, and risperidone for mental illness symptoms. i take multivitamins and ceterizine for general health.
Brief Answer:
prednisone can cause weight gain
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
Prednisone can cause some amount of weight gain however this is an important drug for preventing rejection of the renal graft.
Here is what I suggest
1. Exercise daily for atleast 30 min a day, if you have a smartphone make sure you click 10,000 steps on the pedometer a day
2. Make sure your meals are not rich in carbs, the best way to reduce carbs is by adding more fiber. For example more vegetables in your pasta
3. consciously make an effort to avoid sugar
4, avoid dessert
5. Track your weight on a weekly basis and keep monthly targets
I hope I was of help, if you have any queries get back to me.
Just as a curiosity being a nephrologist could you let me know your current serum creatinine ,date of transplant and donor details
thanks

yes, i received my transplant august 7, 2011. My creatinine is 0.9 and my donor was a man who lost his life in an automobile accident 3000 miles away. I have had no problems with the kidney since transplant. I had the surgery done at the veterans hospital in XXXXXXX Oregon, USA.
