Does Ejaculating Semen Outside During Sexual Intercourse Cause Pregnancy?

Question: Hi doctor,
I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend.
As far as I know I have ejaculated outside but my girlfriend thinks some part was inside at that time.
How can we make sure whether she is safe or has a chances of being pregnant?

2) If you still wish to be safe, she can take emergency contraceptive pills within 72 hours of sexual intercourse. This will give additional protection.

which is having less side effects?
is it safe to have emergency contraceptive pills in this case as there are almost negligible chances of pregnancy?
