Does Excessive Weight Lifting Exercises Result In Aortic Dissection?
The main exercises we do are leg and some upper-body stuff. For legs we do squats etc and it is not really a very heavy lift but it it exhausting by the end. For upper body we use between 40-60 LBS (my current weight is 160 lbs). I have read that if you stay below 1/2 of your body weight and can do 12-15 reps before failure that it is a safe amount of weight.
I am thinking about asking my trainer to modify our regime a little to ensure we reduce the risk. I suppose there are risks to everything in life, but do not want to die suddenly like this. Do the risks ourweight the benefits or will a modified regime suffice? Do leg exercises pose a risk?
I am interested in safely keeping healthy and found that just doing cardiovascular exercise did not provide me with great results.

Detailed Answer:
Brief Ans-Hypochondriasis with obssesive neurosis for Aortic Dissection/ Under Treatment Evaluation.
Hi,Dear,Thanks for your query to HCM.
Read and reviewed your health concerns, which seems mostly hypothetical and without any medical background in your case to worry for the same. And seems to be the Google Health defect.
I would not confuse by more medical discussion, but would straight way, go to reply of your questions-
Q-1-from para -1-of your query-
however now I am worried that lifting weights could result in this horrific incident. ?
Ans-For This fear psychosis with anxiety and obsession about your weight lifting exercises,I would ask you to Consult Sports Specialist Doctor and not the Trainer, who has limited knowledge in this matter.
Ultimately you have to take a call, how much to exercise to suit your body aims ,as ultimately your body is going to indicate you by the complaints about it.
Q-2-From para- 2 of your query-
it is not really a very heavy lift but it it exhausting by the end?
Ans-About these leg and upper body lifts,as these are exhausting, you should be moderate on the weights and repetitions used with each of the upper and leg weight lifts.Moderation in weight used is always better and should be with guidance from Your Sports Doctor, after CT Abdomen/ thorax, where the abdominal aorta has maximum risks to have aneurysms in most cases of that type.If its in you, then it would matter,as it would be known only after needful investigated only.
Q-3-From para-3 of your query-
Q-3 -a-Do the risks our weigh the benefits or will a modified regime suffice? Do leg exercises pose a risk?
Ans-this could be decided by your Consults with your Sports Specialist Doctor after CT abdomen and thorax-if the need be, as decided after your check up by your Sports doctor.
Q-4-From para-4 of your query-
Q-4-I am interested in safely keeping healthy and found that just doing cardiovascular exercise did not provide me with great results.
Ans-If you are really interested in healthy body, go slow and go with medical reports and studies and Consults with Sports Specialist doctor, who can guide in the best possible way outs for your case.
But you seem to be confused with Cardio exercises not giving the expected great results- which would need great and rigorous work ups in Gym, which you should first decide on your own, after Consults with your Sport Medicine Specialist Doctor, after needful investigations only, if you really mean what you think and have queried in this query.
Hope this would help you to guide you about the plan to be followed and worked up with your Sports Medicine Specialist Doctor,in avoiding the risks of sudden death from aortic aneurysm, which may be very rare in your case as such and could be only a Fear Psychosis from Google effects.
Welcome for any further query in this regard.
