Question: Hi...This is XXXXXXX ..I was affected with Bellspalsy one and half year ago. At that time i consulted local Neurologist and he prescribed some medicine and physitherapic excercises. I took all those medicen for two months and and physiotherapy also for two months (electrical stimulation and facial excercises). After that, everything went fine.

Now I am pursuing PhD in XXXXXXX where extreme environments are common (chilled breeze and hot air which are not at all good for my health condition). I heard that chilled breeze affects me nervous system but not about hot air also. But i face little pain in ear when my body exposed to hot air also.

Ragarding this i posted a question in this portal to neurologist. Dr. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX Neurologist in the same portal also said that there would be no problem if my ears are exposed to hot air. But in contrary to that, i faces little pain. He suggested me to contact ENT specialist. So i request you to look into my case and solve my health issue.

Brief Answer:
Exposure to hot air does not cause Bell's Palsy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Exposure to hot air does not cause Bell's Palsy.

2. Bells palsy occurs after exposure to cold or in some cases viral infections may be involved.

3. Get the ears examined and check the hearing and middle ear pressures. This can be done by a local ENT Specialist. A PTA ( Pure Tone Audiometry ) and I / A ( Impedance Audiometry / Tympanometry ) should be done.

4. HRCT + MRI Temporal Bones will help examine the facial nerve for any abnormal course or deficient bone covering. This should be done on 128 slice CT Scan and a 3 tesla MRI Scan machines.

5. Upload these test results to discuss further treatment options.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
