Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
The fluid accumulation occuring in cancerous background is called as malignant ascites.
It will keep coming back until the primary problem is taken care of.
So as you have told that she is undergoing chemo and have few more cycles before she is posted for surgery.
Fluid will keep on accumulating so you need to treat that problem as different entity unless surgery is performed.
You can try following advice till then to reduce the fluid accumulation -
1. Reduce salt intake in food. Less than 3gm per day should be allowed. It will help in keeping the fluid retention in body to minimum and hence reduce the ascitis.
2. Restrict fluid intake also to 1.5 to 2 ltrs per day.
3. Taking a oral diuretic or aldosterone antagonist like aldactone will help to flush out the fluid via urine.
Remove the fluid as and when it accumulates during every visit for chemotherapy.
Consult your oncologist about the advises I have given you above and follow them as they know the general status and health of the patient.
I hope I have answered your query well. if you have any questions kindly ask me back. Thank you
