Does Fluid Intake Play A Role In Managing Pseudotumor Cerebri?
Do I need to drink more fluids because I'm taking Acetazolamide for pseudotumor cerebri? or Do I need to drink less fluids because I have this condition that is caused possibly by CSF build up??
Thanks
Fluid intake plays no role on pseudotumor cerebri. Weight loss does.
Detailed Answer:
I read your question and I understand your concern.
While the precise mechanisms of pseudotumor cerebri are not completely elucidated yet, it is for certain a local central nervous system process affecting the balance between production and reabsorption of cerebrospinal fluid.
Being a local issue it is not related to general fluid balance and there is no need for you to change your fluid intake, no need to worry about that.
The dietary measures which have to be considered are those directed towards losing weight, that is in case you are obese (pseudotumor cerebri is common in overweight women). Even as much as 5-10% of weight loss can be beneficial.
I hope to have been of help, I remain at your disposal for further questions.
