Does Glucose Promote The Growth Of Cancer?
Question: Does Glucose promotes the growth or like fuel for cancer cells ??? MY mother has been diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma .. We usually give her glucose orally . Is it bad ??
Brief Answer:
Glucose does not promote growth of cancer
Detailed Answer:
Hi
There is no conclusive research on human subjects to prove that glucose promotes the growth of cancer or act like its fuel
Taking in too many glucose calories may result in weight gain and being obese may put persons indirectly at a higher risk for cancer
6 teaspoons of glucose (100 calories) is required per day for women

Hello Dr. Dey
I was trying to contact you as you answered my queries earlier about my mother . She recently got MRCP report . Based on that some of the doctors are suggesting not to undergo Liver surgery and hence chemo can not be given without that . The only advice they are giving is just to put stent and then leave it as it is . No chemo nothing . Can you please provide your views . I am attaching that report
Adding to my above point . XXXXXXX doctors suggested the same thing ( not to undergo surgery and hence no chemo )

Brief Answer:
Chemoradiation
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I would advise her to go for surgery as a curative option
Puting stent will only bring her bilirubin down but will not cure her disease
If she is not fit for surgery then she has the other option of chemoradiation

what is the difference between chemoradiation and chemotherapy ??
Doc here says we cannot provide chemo if there is no liver operation .
If I can have a telephonic appointment with you it would be the best and will clear my most of the doubts .
We are indeed going for putting stent but after that we are hesitating for liver operation .

Brief Answer:
Surgery is the first choice
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Chemotherapy is the use of drugs only to kill cancer cells
But chemoradiation is using energy transmitted in waves or a stream of particles along with drugs that will be given intravenously simutaneously
If she is found fit by an oncosurgeon for surgery then first option of treatment will be putting stent to reduce biirubin followed by surgery
