Does Having Stent In Body For A Kidney Stone Cause Any Side Effect?

Question: I have had this stent in for about three months for a kidney stone. Ive had bleeding but nothing like now. I thought it was that time of the month. I am not feeling all that great, starting to feel hot and cold. Should I get a hold of the doctor.

Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been operated for endoscopic fragmentation of stone in kidney and D.J stent have been placed in

Normally we remove the stent within 3-4 weeks .

The symptoms that you have are due to foreign body reaction to stent and UTI.

Please take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefixime along with urinary
antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.

Ensure to drink more water.To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.

Consult your treating Urologist and get the stent removed at earliest .

All your symptoms will get resolved after removal of stent.
