Does High BP Cause Headache And Flushing On Face?

Your recent advice has been acted on.
I have visited my GP who has booked me in for a fasting blood test and an ECG as well as a 24 hour urine test.
He has added to my Amlodipine a drug called Bisoprolol 1.25mg.
I have now tested with a good quality blood pressure machine which has been checked by the practice nurse.
My symptom of a hot head and flushed face always coincides with a high BP. Always in excess of 150/95. My bpm remains good at between 65-75. I could easily forecast my current BP by how I feel in my head.
Strangely a couple of night with 7.5 mg of mirtazapine seems to improve things.
I will of course wait for my tests. I would like to know if you think an anti depressant would help.
Thank you

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
I would like to know that your BP of 150/95 is on medication or off medication.
If on medication it requires further modification of dose.
You Pulse rate is in acceptable range.
The headache, flushing that you are feeling might be from high blood pressure only.
Also you have noticed that the symptoms coincide with high BP.
Mirtazapine is quite a good drug.
You can continue on that.
I don't recommend at this stage any other anti depressant.
I would advice you strict BP control.
Again would add that ask your doctor for adding hydrocholorthiazide to your prescription as the recent guidelines for hypertension that is JNC 8, recommends it strongly.
Let me know:
1. Your BP reading is on medication or off medication.
2. How is your sleep?
Stay Healthy.
