Does Hypothyroidism Affect Pregnancy?

I want to conceive . Will my thyroid affect it? What precautionary steps should be taken? My age is 26 years.
You can increase dose after consulting doctor
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
You are having hypothyroidism. Your TSH should be preferably less than 2.5 before conception. If you are regular with medications consult your physician and increase the dose.
Concerns in pregnancy in untreated hypothyroidism include
1. increased risk of bleeding, abortion, preterm delivery, infections
2. Mild intelligence deficit in child
This can be minimised by proper treatment in pregnancy. In pregnancy we have to do thyroid function tests every month and adjust dose to keep TSH below 2.5.
Precautions:
Be regular with medications and blood tests every month.
Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you
