default
Posted on Tue, 7 Oct 2014
Question: Hi I got my implanon removed 2.5 weeks ago and the next day got my period for 5 days then 2 days after that I ovulated I no this because I did a test and it came positive. The next day I was having cramps on and off up until now being 5 days continuous, also lower back pain but thus is normal for me, also been moving my bowls at least once a day over these 5days. Is this pregnancy? Or what is this? I'm due for my next period in about 3 weeks just under. Thanks

Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
It is all most probably related to ovulation.
After implanon removal there is erratic behavior of ovaries which at times don't ovulate at all and at times multiple ovulation occurs.
So you are getting pain lower abdomen due to irritation of uterine muscles and bowels.
This explaining all your symptoms.
As regards pregnancy is concerned it can be related to pregnancy but it can be confirmed only via positive pregnancy test after 1 week from today.
In case you have other questions I will be happy to help.

Detailed Answer:
There are around 20-30% chances of pregnancy in case you had unprotected intercourse during ovulation time.
Do a pregnancy test on 24th of September.
All the best.

Hi again, so going into the 6th day of the on and off pain still feeling bloated the pain is around my belly button next to and below and near my ribs sometimes too just feels like all over pain around my stomach but mainly under my belly button. Is this possibility of pregnancy and mt stomach stretching or the muscles or is this something else? Is there a possibility it could be something else? Thanks heaps

Detailed Answer:
Hi heaps, pregnancy if at all there then also it cannot cause these stretching feeling because it is just like a mere dot on paper in dimensions.
These awkward feeling can be due to progesterone withdrawal and will be gone once you get your periods and thus your body hormones resume their normal rhythm.
I hope I have answered your question but in case you have any other query I will be happy to help.

Hi so this could be not related to pregnancy?

Its also not a stretching feeling just sometimes pain under my belly button

Detailed Answer:
The pain below belly button is from irritability of the ligaments due to increased uterine contractility due to decreasing levels of progesterone after removal of implanon.
Whether pregnancy is there or not it can be guessed only after 2 weeks post positive ovulation test.
So we can only wait and watch.
All the best.
