Does Intake Of Anastrozole Help In Treating Any Type Of Cancer?
Question: Is the drug Anastrozole 1 mg a treatment for all types of cancer, or is it just to slow it down, and if it only slows it, for apx how long?

Anastrozole is approved for use of treatment of estrogen or progesterone positive breast cancer. It really depends on the stage of the cancer regarding the actual goal of use of the medication.
in some patients who have the breast cancer completely removed anastrozole is used to help decrease the risk that the cancer will return in the future.
If a patient has metastatic cancer of the breast anastrozole can lead to a significant improvement but generally does not lead to complete elimination of the cancer or cure.in the sense it certainly made slow down the growth of the cancer and may do so for many years.
Anastrozole is not used to treat all types of cancers. It is generally used mainly in the realm of treating breast cancer.

They have diagnosed me with breast, lung, liver and bone cancer - at 85 I'm considering not taking the anastrozole if it only treats breast cancer - not sure I want to prolong the inevitable. What would you recommend?

breast cancer can spread to other organs of the body as well as the bones. It sounds like this may be the case for you. If your doctor recommend that you try this tablet in the form of anastrozole then I think it would be reasonable to try this for at least a short period of time to see if it helps you feel better. sometimes the cancer can respond very well to this type of therapy.
