Does Intake Of Ascoril Syrup Help In Treating Chronic Cough In An Infant?

Question: Dear Sir, My son XXXXXXX age is 1 and 1/2 years dur to his extreme cough inside my doctor ask to use ascoril syrup but I don't understand how my child get rid of cough Will that syrup help him to bring out cough through passing tools or by some other methods

I have gone through the details,also seen the prescription and do understand your concern.
Ascoril ls contains ambroxol a mucolytic (sputum thinning agent), levosalbutamol which relieves airway spasm and guiphanesin a soothing agent.

In children this works well in case of cough.
Children should not be prescribed cough suppressing agents which is being commonly used by practitioners for symptomatic relief.

I would suggest you to continue the medications prescribed by your pediatrician.I hope the symptoms will be relieved in next few days.

If you notice any breathing difficulty, if fever persists for more than 3-4 days or condition worsens please get your child reevaluated by the doctor.
