Does Intake Of Azithromycin Help In Curing Dry Cough?
Question: I have severe dry cough from last two days. Also running nose. been taking cofdex cough syrup for two days but my cough has remained as it was. I also had sore throat few days back which is gone now. my doctor had prescribed azithromycin but I did not take it for sore throat as it's an antibiotic. can I take same tablet for dry cough now ?
Brief Answer:
you can take it...
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
azithromycin is an antibiotic that targets the respiratory tract infections mostly, so you can take it now. I wouldn't recommend you to do so though, because your situation sounds more like a viral disease, which does not require antibiotics. You'd better contact your doctor for clinical examination and assessment first.
Taking antibiotics puts you at risk for various complications including allergic reactions, vaginitis, diarrhea, etc. This means that you should take antibiotics only when needed and only if your doctor has advised you to do so.
Kind Regards!

Can you suggest any medication for dry cough
Brief Answer:
depends on the cause
Detailed Answer:
Cough suppression depends on the cause. For example a patient with bronchial asthma will get better with inhaled drugs. If the infection is the only cause of your cough you can use dextromethorphan which is a cough suppressant. Codeine containing drugs are also very effective.
