Does Intake Of Forteo Lead To Jaw Problems?

default
Posted on Wed, 2 Mar 2016
Question: My doctor wants me to take Forteo for my bones. My spine is pushing against my stomach. I've taken Actonel for 8 years and now off but it created some jaw problems. Will this drug do the same thing.

Brief Answer:
No, it won't cause jaw problems.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Both forteo and actonel have different mechanism of action.
2. With forteo, you might rarely get nausea. Jaw pain should not be seen. However, at the start of treatment, risk of postural hypotension can be seen. You will need to take more fluids and also during change in posture, need to do it slowly. Like when you're getting up from bed/lying posture take 5 min after getting up then another 5 min after standing and likewise.

Once you stop feeling dizzy, it won't be a problem.

You can take forteo.

Hope it helps.
