Does Intake Of Motrin Help In Curing Kidney Stone?

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Mar 2016
Question: Hello, I have a kidney stone...emergency room gave me Percocet and Tramadol. I am afraid of the Percocet because of the acetaminophen, I have XXXXXXX Syndrom. I'm a lightweight so is the Tramadol the better choice? Or should I just take Motrin over the counter? Thanks

Thank you! That makes me feel better. I have taken Motrin a handful of times in my life so rather stick with it instead of the unknown drugs.

Brief Answer:
motrin indeed sounds like a better choice

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

percocet and tramadol as a combination sounds like a strange choice to me. First of all percocet contains a potent opioid. Why also use tramadol which is another opioid and a less potent one? Ibuprofen sounds like a good choice (motrin) unless you've got reasons not to use it like being allergic to it, having uncontrolled hypertension, renal failure or impairment, elevated liver enzymes, peptic ulcer, etc.

If the pain is too severe then combination of ibuprofen with either paracetamol or paracetamol and opioid should be much more effective.

I hope you find my comments helpful!
