Does Intake Of Prochloraperazine Help In Treating Vertigo?
Question: Hi My mum gets vertigo and she was good for a few months until the last three days and she had an episode each day with nausea and vomiting Last year The Dr prescribed tablets called prochlorperazine but she only takes them when she has an episode I was wondering if they are safe to take every day to avoid episodes altogether She is 85 yrs old Thankyou
Brief answer.. Generally doesn't cause problem
Detailed answer
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understood your concern.
Although like every other medicine, prochlorperazine also has side effects but in small doses of 5-10 mg in a day doesn't cause any problem even if used for long term.
Do keep it in mind that it can cause sleepiness, confusion, rapid heart beats, stiffness or shaking in few individuals. In case any thing of such sort happens then go to ER and do tell about using this drug.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks

thankyou for answer maybe she could take 1 before bedtime every day
Hello,
Oh yes definitely.
As I wrote earlier, there is no harm in taking 5-10 mg on daily basis even for a long term.
If she is settled with one 5 mg tablet before bed time, then it can continued.
Thanks
