Question: Sir, I am 66 years old, my Tsh in the last test was 7.5. T3 and T4 are normal. My weight and sugar are within limits. BP is controlled by medicine. I need to start Thyronorm 100mg immediately? Regards, XXXXXXX

Right now the thyroid gland is underperforming and in order to get normal level of output, it needs hyperstimulation by the production of more TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). If this continues, the system will exhaust itself and that would worsen the matter. Hence you should start taking Thyronorm 100 at the earliest and remain on periodic monitoring (after three months) for suitable dose adjustment.
