Does Intake Of Salmon Lead To Increase Prostate Cancer?
Question: My PSA has been slowly rising and I am concerned about prostate cancer. I have been reading that choline could make the cancer worse. Therefore, the logic is to avoid eggs. But I have also just read that eating salmon could do the same. I have been for the most avoiding eggs, but I have had quite a bit of salmon after reading about it's health benefits. I also have had a lot of chicken and turkey(in an effort to avoid red meat), but does that fall under same category of eggs, and it too should be avoided? Your thoughts?
Brief Answer:
no need to avoid all these stuff
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
There is little data to suggest that any dietary habit is a risk factor for prostate cancer. However, red meat has been shown to be associated with some cancers and there is some weak association with prostate cancer as well.
But there is absolutely no data to suggest harmful effects of eggs, salmon, chicken or turkey on prostate cancer. You can definitely have them. In case of eggs, it is better to restrict to 3 yolks per week with no restrictions on egg whites.
Hope this helps.
