Question: Hello Doctor. I would like ask if sleeping pills can increase your blood pressure. And if it is ok if you take it while you're taking antibiotics. My family doctor prescribed me a teva-trazodone but instead of falling asleep, I'm awake all night and increase my blood pressure up to 165 over 111. I didn't take it while I'm taking antibiotics. I did take it a day after I finish my antibiotics. My family doctor said that it is safe to use but my blood pressure increase too much from 120 over 85 to 165 over 111.

Brief Answer:
Lower your worries.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Let me assure you that taking sleeping pills is unlikely to lead to increase your blood pressure. Rather, the underlying stress that is likely to be giving you sleeplessness is also the possible cause of the rise in blood pressure. The blood pressure level is quite high and needs to be lowered. You need to restrict your salt intake. If the blood pressure remains high on at least three different measurements, you might need medication for the same.

Stress relief is the key solution to look for. Yoga and meditation should help. Discuss with your treating physician if a change in the sleeping pill is advisable.

Please clarify why you are taking antibiotics and what antibiotic you are taking. Most often there is no interaction.

Let me know if I could help further.

Brief Answer:
Information provided

Detailed Answer:
For crystal meth:
Plasma half-life = 12-34 hours. This means that by 12-34 hours, the concentration of meth in your blood will be reduced in half.
Time to leave the body = 2-10 days. Generally, the heavier the user, the longer it will take for meth to leave the body.
Effects of meth use = 8-24 hours.
Detection in urine tests = up to 72 hours.

Depending upon your ability to metabolize the drug, the length of time that meth remains detectable in your system will vary.
