Does Intermittent Increased Heart Rates Require Medical Attention?

Question: I’ve noticed in the past couple of weeks that my heart rate will suddenly jump to at least 124 bpm. Sometimes even higher. This happens at least once a day. Sometimes when I’m walking around or like just now, it went crazy as I was finishing eating dinner. I have an oxygen tester thing because I have copd. And so I’m able to test it randomly. My doctor told me recently that I was pre-diabetic. Should I be concerned.
Brief Answer:
Needs holter
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message.
Yes , I think you need to be concerned.
The rapid change in heart rate need to be treated.
This is what is called arrhythmia.
Tachyarrhythmia to be more specific.
You will need to test a holter monitor.
The medicines will need to be started as per report.
You will need to meet a cardiologist for this.
Do keep a record of the date , heart rate noted , and the activity you were doing prior to noting heart rate in a note book while you get the appointment.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. feel free to contact me on the subject for more information.
Best of luck.
