Does Long Term Use Of Gabapentin Cause Fibromyalgia?
Question: Is gabapentin a drug you can use long term for fibromyalgia? Also how effective is this drug to manage pain? I took this initially for my condition but was not happy with side effect of feeling foggy mentally
and being very sleepy. Does this side effect subside as your body adjusts to the drug when you take a low dose to allieviate pain?

Thank you for your response. Are all doctors moving away from prescribing Tramadol
period? Is Tramadol being taken off the market? I have been taking 300mg of Tramadol in 3 divided dose for 2 years and have had a better quality of life without the brain fog. I never had the desire to take more than the prescribed dose but my doctor wants to wean me off to take Gabapentin, Cymbalta, Lyrica or Savella and all have horrible side effects and extremely hard to wean off too. I don't feel that the drugs I mentioned are the better option for better quality of life. They relieve some of the pain but then need to take other drugs to counter act the side effects.
Please let me know if some doctors still prescribe the Tramdol or is it being discontinued.

Brief Answer:
No it is not being taken off the market
Detailed Answer:
hi
it is not that it is being taken off the market.
however it is an opiod.thus issues related to dependence on the drug are high.
that may be the reason that your doctor wants to wean you off.
other option is to slightly reduce the dose of tramadol and take a combination with paracetamol.
I agree that all these drugs have side effects and sometimes it is difficult for patients to tolerate them.
