Does Low Aminolytic Fluid During 19 Weeks Of Pregnancy Impact The Foetus ? Can It Be Treated ?

What your wife has is called oligohydraminos. Its a condition where there is less amniotic fluid then normal. This can occur due to metabolic reasons.Whether it can harm the baby or not?Yes,it can.Amniotic fluid is essential for the survival for the fetus. Its almost like oxygen, nutrition for the fetus. So less than normal can adversely affect the fetus.Hence its very important to increase the amniotic fluid as the pregnancy advances. There are medicines/fluids that can help in this. But whether it will be successful 100% is yet to be determined.Your' wife's fluid is very low and at 19 weeks, its an important time for the development of the fetus .Its early days yet,but the AFI has to be increased as much as possible.Growth retardation of the fetus is a complication otherwise.
You wife will need urgent medical attention. So please consult with her OB and get the necessary treatment.
