Does Meprate Cause Heavy Bleeding During Period?

default
Posted on Tue, 25 Jun 2024
Question: Hi, I am 40 years old and have PCOD for quiet a few years now. Last month during my period cycle instead of periods I had brown discharge which continued for almost two weeks, so I visited a gynae. She said its due to perimenopause and suggested meprate for 5 days. After taking meprate and stopping it, I got my periods but I have been bleeding heavily for last two days. To an extent that I feel unwell now. Is it normal or an indication of underlying issue?

Brief Answer:
Evaluation needed

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query

Withdrawal bleed after meperate is usually more, need not worry

Yes, such disturbances in cyclea can point at you going into menopause.

The usual age range for . menopause is 45 to 50 yrs, though a few women attain menopause early by 40 or so but very rare.

I would recommend a thorough evaluation starting with an Ultrasound scan. This can put you at ease.

Hope, I answered your query

Wishing you good health
