Does Onset Of Memory Loss Require Medical Attention?

Question: my wife is experiencing memory loss. It came on immediately while eating breakfast. She can't remember what day of the week it is, etc. She's a healthy 56 year old. should I take her to the hospital or wait it out for a while?
Brief Answer:
Get examined and evaluated.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
Acute onset of memory loss needs to be evaluated by a doctor preferably a neurologist.
Is there any loss of consciousness, weakness of limbs, speech changes? Any previous such episodes?
It's better to consult immediately if any such symptoms are associated.
Any other illness or medications being taken?
Awaiting for your response.
Hope I have answered your query.
