Posted on Wed, 19 Nov 2014
Question: Hi. My periods started on 27th September and was irregular in between till oct 2. Then oct 3 I started with heavy bleeding and it was not stopping with clots. I went through sonography and I was detected with left ovarian cyst of 35mm. I was given tranexa MF to stop my bleeding and ovral g with blong to be taken every night at bedtime for 21 days. Still my bleeding is there irregularly and with clots for 1 day and then it stops and again it starts. I started my medication from 6th October

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to healthcare Magic.

I have gone through your query and Would like to reply in detail as follows:

1. You have a simple ovarian cyst which is not a matter of concern.

2. Ovarian cyst is unlikely to be reason for bleeding. There is no other evident reason for bleeding.

3. If you have started Ovral-G, it will take about 5 days to act and your bleeding to stop.

4. Meanwhile you can continue with Tranexa MF 3 times a day for next 5 days. This should help.

I hope your doubt is clarified. Let me know if you wish any other information.

Regards,
Dr. Soumya

Hi Doc,

I completed my Ovral G course of 21 days on 26th October. My Gynaec informed that I will get my periods by 28th or 29th October. Today is 30th October I am still awaiting my periods. Additionally I want to know once I get periods what will be next steps and how will I come to know if the cyst is gone?

Brief Answer:
Wait for 10 days

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If you have completed OVRAL on 26th , wait for about 10 days for periods to arrive.

Once you get periods, get ultrasound scan done to know the presence / absence of cyst.
