Brief Answer:
Yes.Pituitary excessive hormone production

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Thanks for giving me an opportunity to address your query.

Excessive/abnormal production of hormones (ACTH or TSH) secondary to pituitary causes (microadenomas being most common cause) can cause high blood pressures.

I would like to know some information about your health.

Do you have shivering, sweating, weight loss/gain, skin discoloration, increased heart beat, palpitations (feeling one's own heart beat) or any other complaints about your health?

Awaiting your response...

Hi, no none of the above apply to me. I get episodes in past year where my blood pressure goes very high, eg 240/140. I have been in hospital and all tests come back clear. When my bp goes high, I get these episodes which have the following, excessive tiredness, confusion, forgetfulness, loss of balance and co-ordination, slurred speech, as these symptoms improve I get very angry and aggressive which is not in my nature, after a week in hospital I am back to normal. I have had 8 of these episodes in past year. Please can you help me.

Brief Answer:
Relevant blood test, CT thorax & abdomen

Detailed Answer:
Hi.Thanks for writing me back.

All the above symptoms are not caused due to pituitary problem.Intermittent rise in blood pressure can be caused due to abnormal elevation of hormones (adrenaline or cortisol) or narrowing of your aorta.I were to do blood and urine tests which detect if levels are elevated along with a CT scan of thorax & abdomen to rule out any intra-abdominal mass/tumor.

Could your please upload the summary discharge and the reports if possible?

Hope this helps.

Brief Answer:
Recommend blood tests and CT

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear.My apologies for the delay. Thanks for uploading the reports.

I am glad that most of your reports are normal including the 2D ECHO of heart.Loss of balance, confusion and extreme tiredness is probably due to some abnormality in the inner ear and needs to be ruled(MRI IAM) out as advised by your ENT.

Your current problem- intermittent hypertension probably doesnot have any relation to your existing health status and I were to still do blood tests and CT thorax and abdomen (presuming that CT brain was done previously-not clearly mentioned in your report).

Hope this answers your query.Get well soon.
