Does Posterior Auricular Lymph Node Is Cancer?
Question: 58yo, M, healthy. Two weeks ago noticed a bump behind right ear (posterior auricular lymph node). Lump size ~1cm, firm. Can be tender to touch. Went to ENT who said it was swollen lymph node, thoroughly examined for other enlarged nodes, infection, lesions/tumours , and found none. I have no other symptoms. Was told to wait 3 weeks, and if node stays biopsy it. Now 2 weeks passed, lump is still there, didn't change much (it definitely didn't grow, sometimes seems as if it became smaller...not sure). I am worried about cancer. Should I be ?
P.S Also last couple days I have had my ears (both) plugged a number of time.

also had yesterday routine blood test done (as part of my annual physical)...all came back normal, all blood counts are within the range
Brief Answer:
Harmless solitary lymph node
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query
The majority of the time, a single post-auricular lymph node with little change is risk-free. An inflammatory condition that occurred behind the ear or in the ear canal caused the lymph node to protrude.
Dandruff, a tiny pimple, or skin inflammation around the lymph nodes' drainage site are all possibilities. I genuinely believe there is no cause for concern because the lesion is not malignant and you don't have any other symptoms or noticeable signs of malignancy.
You should refrain from frequently touching the lymph node, in my opinion.
I hope this answers your query. Revert if you have any follow-up queries.
