Does Presence Of Protein In Urine Indicate Kidney Disease?

Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
Although in normal circumstances, kidneys don't pass protein in urine but in certain conditions there can be temporary passage of slight proteins in urine.Proteins are generally passed by people who are having some kidney damage. The normal conditions, where there is temporary leakage of protein in urine are....
Fever,cold,after heavy exercises,emotional stress etc.
However if there are risk factors associated with the person like diabetes or hypertension or kidney diseases or heart diseases, then this elevation of proteins in urine would be persistent and would increase with time.
In such cases, like you who is having DM and HTN,you should be investigated for kidney damage by getting investigated properly which includes 24 hour urine protein estimation done. You must definitely be evaluated by a nephrologist to look for any begining of damage to kidney ( nephropathy )
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
