Question: My wife had a fall and proximal humeral fracture. Up to how much time after the fall can the shoulder replacement surgery be performed?

Generally, this is not an extreme emergency, but optimal time for this type of surgery would be within 1 week after the trauma, maximally 10 days.
Second possibility is to treat it with plate osteosynthesis and third would be conservative treatment which has poorest results and requires prolonged immobilization. Also, there is an option to start with conservative treatment and then to have the shoulder replacement later in life but it also increases risk of certain complications.
