Does Rectal Bleeding Require Medical Attention Despite Being On Xarelto?
Question: I am having rectal bleeding. I have hemeriods and possibly an anal fissure. I am on blood thinners(xarelto). The blood usually starts while having a bowel movement and sometimes when I am wiping myself. I am concerned that it could be a serious problem. Bleeding has been going on for over a week
Brief Answer:
because of xeralto
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
So your bleeding of hemorrhoids and fissure has been exaggerated by Xeralto which is an anticoagulant drug.
This situation is tricky. I would advise holding Xeralto for a few days if DVT is under control and then attempt local treatment for hemorrhoids n fissure.
Once that is done, start stool softeners n laxatives. Xeralto can be restarted after bleeding control.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

My DVT is still not gone is there anything I can do to stop it while on the blood thinners. I am just concerned if I stop the blood thinners I could get another clot
Brief Answer:
Dvt filter is the option
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
If DVT is in lower limbs then we can try for a vena cava filter. That will take care of thrombus and we can buy time for control of bleeding.

I was told about that when I had very bad vaginal bleeding which I had a hysterectomy to deal with. I'm not really keen on doing that. is there any way to deal with this without the filter
Brief Answer:
Hello. A filter is the best bet in your case
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You can try the conservative approach using hemostatic drugs like ethamsylate and tranexamic acid but they will be of less help.
If bleeding does not stop then stop rivaroxaban for a few days and go for a filter.
Hope I have answered your query.
