Question: Hi Doctor,

Would Utovlan stop my period if it has already started?
I just started period today (Tuesday) and am going for holiday on Fri. Is there a medication that you can recommend to stop my period by friday?

It is my birthday, I am not on any birth control pill or medication. I am really keen to delay or stop my period for my holiday in amsterdam. Please let me know if you have a solution

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this menses and your scheduled vacation. It would have been best for us to intervene before these menses all started. It is even more complicated right now.

How long do your menses generally last? Should it be like 4-5days, then it would stop just in time for you to be able to enjoy your vacation. However, if that is not the case, we may need to try some drugs right here.

The only drugs that can interrupt menses are progesterone analogues like duphaston, utovlan, etc. These should help. However, they are most effective when started before menses.
