Does The Standard Of Care Include Determining The ISF?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I can understand your concern. I have tried to reply your queries which are written below-
Some important factors such as user's current total daily dose (TDD), glucose correction factor and carbohydrate factor or insulin: carbohydrate ratio, correction target and duration of insulin action should be considered for the calculation of basal and bolus doses of a tandem insulin pump.
An individual's Correction factor is inversely related to their TDD or total daily dose and measures how far an individual's elevated glucose level will reduce per unit of insulin.
Another important factor is insulin sensitivity factor which can be obtained by the 1800 rule. If someone uses 30 unit of short acting insulin, divided that into 1800 and result is 60 that indicates that the person has insulin sensitivity level of 1:60. Relative insulin sensitivity can be obtained by dividing the expected total daily dose by actual total daily dose.
According to your query, answer is yes. Tandem insulin pump with Dexcon G6 can be used as a closed loop system. But at present, it is a brand new method, so more evidence based clinical studies should be needed to determine its merits or demerits properly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
