Does Throat Constriction Help In Treating Difficulty Swallowing?
XXXXX
I would also recommend some cardiac tests at this moment
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir. Thank you for your question and welcome to HCM. I understand your concern.
As I can understand from your symptoms, your asthma is under control and the lungs are looking good on your periodical examination. Also, I am understanding that you had swallowing difficulties, and a narrowing in the oesophageal area was depicted and you are going to undergo a procedure to dilate this narrowing. Good luck with the procedure.
My opinion is that I should not get ahead of myself and tell you that this is your problem or not. It may be, and also, you might have the same good results as that lady you read up on line. But, it is always soon to speak before the procedure is carried out.
What was striking to me were these episodes of "black out" or collapsing as you described them.
Obviously, this symptom may have a lot of origins, but I would recommend to rule out the most important ones. I would include a cardiac 24-hour Holter rhythm monitor, to depict if there are, if any, troubles with the conduction and electrical systems of the heart, since you also are 82 years old and with normal, physiological process of aging also comes the normal, physiological "aging" of the heart conduction system.
Also, I would recommend you an Echo & Color Doppler of the carotid (neck) arteries, since blockages there may produce these symptoms. It also cannot be ruled out that these episodes may have been produced by a combination of physical activity which requires laboured breathing and the baseline asthma and bronchial constriction, which is associated with lower oxygen delivered to the brain. However, I would recommend you to run the above mentioned tests.
I hope this was helpful to you. I am happy to help, if you have follow-up questions. Wish you a good health.
Kind regards,
Dr. Meriton
