Does Usage Of Clotrimazole Cream Help In Curing Anal Itching?

Question: Hi this is a follow up question to some advise I received last week from another Dr. on here. I was advised to use some clotrimazole poweder to try and treat anal itchiness. However I could not find any powder at the store and I bought the cream instead. Is it ok if I use the cream on my anus...if so how many days should I use it and for how long.
Thanks

Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com. I have read your query. I understand your concern. I am here to help you.
Yes you may apply clotrimazole cream Instead of powder in the anal area. Anal itching may be due to anal fissure/haemorrhoids for which you have been already on treatment. Another very prime cause for anal itch is worms infestation. You may take tablet mebendazole for 3 daysfor deinfestation. You may continue to apply clotrimazole cream twice daily for 10-14 days .
I hope it helps.
Take care

Yes I was thinking it could be worms. What if it isn't worms, can I take the mebendazole even though I may not have worms for sure? Will it hurt me if I don't have worms?
Thanks,
Lisa

Hello.
Welcome back.
Mebendazole is a very safe medication. You may take it. I otherwise advice my patients too to get deinfestation done once or twice in a year.
I hope it helps you.
