Posted on Fri, 18 Nov 2016
Question: hello, My liver enzymes result AST ALT mildly elevated, Liver U/S normal, hepatitis negative. I am a 1-2 wine per week person, so no abuse. I had acrazy teen episode of T #3 tabs--probably took a dozen pills at a time without treatment. do u think this is possibly why my lab results mildly high? also ferritin binding low? I have Hx of asthma, migraines, and hip replacement. also had breast augumentation 20 yr ago... I'm alittle worried.. Thanks for your imput. My Dr has recommended I see a digestive health person.

Brief Answer:
further investigation is required

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

first of all it would help a lot to see the reports of the tests you've done so far. It doesn't help much to say they're all negative because I can't possibly know what was done. I can only guess!

There are some tests that doctors do not usually order right from the start that may help to determine the origin of this condition. Antinuclear antibodies, anti-liver-kidney antibodies, anti-smooth muscle antibodies and soluble liver antigen. The aforementioned tests may detect autoimmune hepatitis, which usually presents with mild transaminases elevation.

If the radiological assessment and blood tests are all negative then only a biopsy may help but this should be reserved as the last resort.

I'll be glad to discuss this matter in more detail when you send me the reports.

Kind Regards!
