Question: Does wormwood contain enough thujone to hurt you? I accidentally took two capsules and experienced vertigo, diarrhea, and a fast heart rate for an hour or so. the capsules contained 280 milligrams each. I feel generally fine now, but I'm wondering if I could have exposed myself to toxicity.

Wormwood containing thujone might be toxic to animals and humans because of it's thujone content.

Mild toxicity may present with vomitings, abdominal cramps,diarrhoea,urine retention,increased thirst,palpitations and dizziness,.

Severe toxicity may cause hallucinations,dizziness,insomnia,neuropathy,paralysis,seizures, and even death.

As per the dose consumed by you and your symptomatology,you had mild toxicity and it is unlikely that you will have any severe and long lasting side effects.
