Question: how long does fatty liver disease with readings as below take to subside.dad I found this by chance after I was infected with both maleria and typhoid. I must say also that during my treatment I was given analgyn intravenous on 3 occasions. Have no idea if it played a role with my elated liver ezymes . Only thing is that I know I became generally sick after treating maleria and typhoid.. My specialist has been focused on your liver and we are treating for 2 months of. I have improved but otherwise back to my previous self yet. How long do these issues with liver take to resolve . Any advise on how to help myself heal better?

Brief Answer:
Time depends on how strict do you follow your diet.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Fatty liver has many grades and treatment and the prognosis of a patient depends on the grade or stage of fatty liver. Can you please attach the reports of your liver function tests as well as ultrasound upper abdomen.

As of now going by your question, I would consider that you have mild grade 1 fatty liver which is very common in people in their mid 30's. I would suggest you to follow the diet for 3 months and things would revert back.

Some food plans are:
- Whole grains are very beneficial to consume.
- Fruits and vegetables should be a significant part of any diet to help in recovering from a liver problem. When on recovery diet follow a high carbohydrate diet. Fat contents of diet should be very low. However, olive oil, canola oil and flax seed oil are all healthy fats that are recommended as part of a diet.
- Healthy proteins in the form of low-fat milk and dairy products along with lean meats, beans, eggs and soy products can also be a part of a healthy liver diet.
- Take L-carnitine once daily along with Sylimarin (liver rejenuvator).
- Do physical exercise like walking on tread mill at high inclination.
- No smoking or alcohol and you would be fine in 3 months.

Hope I was helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you. I did not do an ultrasound but an xray. I have light headedness and which seem to get worse when getting hungry. I reduced carbs to try and manage blood sugars but realised that my body demands this and I get hungry more.i am doing a lot of vegetables and smaller meals. Blood Sugars appear fine now.Rather I tend to feel almost hypo when I am in the range of 4 which should be normal for fasting. and during the normal times I get jittery when I start to hit blood sugar of 5.1

Brief Answer:
Fatty liver on X-ray?

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I am really sorry but to diagnose fatty liver in X-ray, I have never heard! As far as the liver is concerned, minimum a USG has to be done.

Secondly you can take zero carb protein supplements to keep your hunger satisfied for a long time. Protein makes you feel full.
Take carbs with low glycemic index like oats, brown rice etc.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Minimum three times elevation of enzyme is significant.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Less than three time elevation of liver enzymes has no clinical significance. If you are an alcoholic, stop drinking! Everything would return to normal.

Please show these answers to your treating doctor without unnecessarily saying that you have fatty liver without even doing basic tests.

Are you an alcoholic? If yes these mild elevations were due to that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I was a regular user of alcohol. Binge drinking sometimes. But i am.not sure i am not sure what defines an alcoholic. But yes i was drinking almost every day.But i stopped cold turkey since I got sick and have had no drink this year. so why was I feeling low with double elevated enzymes. I did ecg, full blood counts , kidney function test also. Anyway, I believe I am on a path to full recovery as it is improving.i am just concerned why it has taken this long. Are there any test you suggest I do. I think the delay in healing has made me worried and I have panic attacks when I try to get back to my normal life but I am trying to overcome this inch by inch. I however wish not to use antidepressants to aid this process. Any advice will be welcome.Thank you very much

Brief Answer:
Follow up.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

First advice, don't panic. Slightly raised enzymes are due to alcoholic habits. Stop alcohol completely.

Take two capsules of milk of thistle daily for 2 months. Follow high carbohydrate and low-fat diet.

You would be fine in a few weeks. Can take natural anti-anxiety pills of Lactium.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Thanks.
