Question: Dr --

1. My LDL is 130 [my other related labs are normal] & so my cardiologist recommended that I start Rosuvastatin, 5 mg or even .25 mg, daily. Do you agree with this recommendation?

2. do you think that this medication can damage my liver in the long run? if i end up taking it for the next 20-30 years?

3. i also ingest triphala every morning. That is a Ayurvedic herbal supplement for digestive health & regularity. Are there any concerns for an adverse reaction if i take these two in the morning?

Thanks.

Hello!

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that if you do not have any other risk factors like : diabetes, arterial hypertension, smoking or family history for coronary artery disease, these levels of LDL may be considered acceptable and medical treatment is not recommended.

For this reason, if you do not have any of the above mentioned cardio-vascular risk factors, I would not recommend starting rosuvastatin.

Instead, I would recommend some diet modifications (low sugar and fat intake) and increase your physical activity (aerobics is recommended).

Anyway, Rosuvastatin doesn't interact with triphala and it does not cause liver damage.

Hope you will find this information helpful!

Wishing all the best,
