Question: Dr Bhavsar,

I am still having stomach pain and constipation I took Miralax as you suggested It did not work . I than took Milk of Magnesia. It did work, but I have to take it about every two dayes because pain and constipation came back.I am always tired and I feel crummy. I am wondering if a colonoscopy might give some insite into what is wrong with me. Please let me know.

Honestly speaking, most common cause for constipation is functional (no intestinal pathology).
So I don't think colonoscopy should be done straightaway.
First get done ultrasound examination of abdomen.
Follow some lifestyle modifications for constipation.
1. Take curd or yogurt daily at night.
2. Go for walking after meals especially after dinner.
3. Drink lukewarm water at night.
4. Take more fibers in diet. Avoid oily, spicy and fatty food. Avoid junk food.
5. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated.
6. Avoid smoking and alcohol if you have these habits.
I think you will mostly improve with constipation with all these lifestyle modifications.
