Dr. Kausal, My Wife Has Been On Telekast L For

Question: Dr. Kausal, my wife has been on Telekast L for 19 days, given post breathing problems which we had shown to a Pulmonologist. We also wrote to you at that time. Metaspray has been given now in place of Duonase. For the last two days, she has mentioned feeling chest discomfort , and also feels a pounding of the heart when climbing stairs. Do you think the Telekast could be the cause ? Chest tightness was mentioned as a less frequent side effect for this medicine. Resting heart rate is 71 now . Weight was 54 KG, blood pressure 130/70 last measured Thursday Nov 8 during last doctor visit.

I can understand your concern.
Yes, I have remembered your wife's case.
You have asked whether she should continue telecast L or not.
I don't think her current symptoms are due to Telecast L.
Chest discomfort, the pounding of heart etc are common symptoms of asthma.
So she should definitely get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) if not done earlier.
If PFT is showing good reversibility with obstructive defect then she will need inhaled treatment.
Please let me if PFT is already done.
