Question: Everyday in the late evening his ears become dark red and very hot. Sometimes itching is also there.

The kind of symptoms the child is having are suggestive of febrile illnesses mostly of viral origin as is also supported by the cough and cold problem.
Another important possibility of allergic tendency of the skin around ears.
Also watch the skin closely in day light for a change in skin appearance because rarely this type of problem can be due to local infection.
You can try the OTC medicine called Maxtra-P 5ml thrice a day for 5days and prevent the child from exposure to cold.
