Endoscopy Reveal Why It Is Hard Area In The Upper Gastric Region?
Question: Hello, I recently had an ultrasound because my GP felt a hard area in the upper gastric region and she has since referred me as a precaution- I feel it has been there for a long time and I have no other symptoms. I am a singer so my midsection / diaphragm is used very athletically , and recently I moved and was lifting heavy things ?
The ultrasound report showed sudden change in thickness of abdominal wall ... which was instantly a relief and I went home happier.
Could you please explain why I may be asked to have an endoscopy which I really cannot tolerate. Why is the ultrasound result not sufficient, nothing sinister was seen - I could even forward the PDF images if you would like.
I would like help in understanding the image results.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Less likely cancer of stomach
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Hope you r doing good.
First we will discuss why ultrasound is insufficient for stomach evaluation- Stomach can distend with fluid and air , so inner lining of it could not be evaluated by ultrasound. If there is any lesion of wall it can be seen .
Second - symptoms of stomach cancer will be totally different likely vomiting , weight loss, blood in vomit or stool. Hope you are free of such symptoms.
I would like to suggest please take symptomatic medication form your GP and observe for few days then we can decide further .
Don't try to regularly check lump you felt, sometime it is just muscle.
Thanks and Regards
