Feeling Sick Due To Viral Infection. Having Itchy And Sore Anus. What It Could Be?
Question: hi there i have been sick with a viral for five days i do feel ok now i thought id start some deworm tabs a few days ago as i got some why i was at chemist as i need to get some for my kids and thought id take them while i was off work.anyway dont know if that is the problem but skin now between my ball bag and anus is itchy seems to be normal to look and feel but just itchy and feels ok to scratch but obviously gets soree the more you do it ....any idea what it could be....

After a deworming medication, the cysts and eggs of the parasites are excreted out through the stool. There is a chance that the eggs can stick to the peri anal region. They are killed because of the chemical reaction that occurs during deworming. During this process they release certain substances which trigger an allergic reaction over the skin where they are stuck. It itches but then they are flushed away soon. They do not require any treatment. This reaction is possibly around the anal opening and cause itching. This goes away on its own with applications of calamine lotion.
Check if it is extending beyond the anal opening if so you need to get a visual examination by the local PCP. Other advice include:
1) Cut your nails short as it introduce other germs
2) Keep the area dry to avoid fungus
