Feeling Weak For About A Week ! Why ?
Question: Feeling weak for about a week ! Why ?
Feeling weak for about a week ! Why ?
Brief Answer:
Very likely a self limited condition like a viral infection is the cause but detailed answer below
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Weakness is a symptom that is very general and can be caused by a number of conditions. Depending on how long you have had it and if you have other symptoms with it will help us better understand the reason why you are having the weakness.
Generally if it is less then a couple of weeks it is most likely related to a self limited disease like a viral infection. In this case it would be accompanied with other symptoms like fever, cough, runny or blocked nose, loose stools, nausea, skin rash, etc (not all the symptoms may be present in one patient but a couple of them might be associated with the weakness).
To help with it you will need to rest as possible, make sure you do drink well and eat frequent small amounts for food to give your body the needed things to recover.
If you have started a drug (including over the counter drugs like drugs for allergy) you might have the weakens due to it as well.
If weakness goes longer than a couple of weeks then a wide range of conditions can be considered, like stress, anxiety/depression, anemia, sleep problems, rarely heart problems (in your age), lung conditions, diabetes, thyroid problems, immune conditions, liver and kidney problems, etc. A good examination with the doctor might be a way to start to investigate it. The doctor will need to do a thorough physical examination and sometimes might need to do some tests as well like CBC, ERS, TSH, blood sugar, liver tests, kidney function tests, urinalysis, etc.
In your case because the weakness has been for only one week, i would not worry but just try to give yourself time to improve and very likely you will start to feel better in the next few days. If you don't notice improvement in a week or you have any worsening, still it may be weakness from a viral condition or a self limiting condition but it might be a good idea to see your doctor to be on the safe side.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
As explained previously you will need to see your doctor and have proper examination and possible tests to identify the cause and have proper treatment- details below
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
By what i notice it is more then 3 weeks that you are feeling fatigue. As explained above because the weakness did not improve in the next couple of weeks or if it would be worse you would need to see a doctor.
There are several causes of the fatigue that need to be ruled out. You will very likely need a good physical examination where the doctor checks if you have anemia, check your thyroid, the heart, check for lumps (lymphnodes) in your neck, armpits and groin area and according to the findings in the examination the doctor might ask for some of the blood tests mentioned in the previous message like CBC and ERS, glucose tests for diabetes, liver and kidney tests to make sure they are well, TSH and FT4 for the thyroid function, urinalysis, etc.
If the doctor finds you examination to be normal and he finds other symptoms that would suggest him anxiety or depression he might not do an extended workup as mentioned above but ask you to fill some forms and evaluate if you are having anxiety/depression and if you score high in these he might recommend treatment for these.
So to conclude please see your doctor for a thorough examination and possible tests to find the diagnosis and give you the proper treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
