Many causes for altered taste
Detailed Answer:
Hello, it's good to hear from you again. I'm sorry your wife has been having more medical issues lately. The "bad" taste in her mouth, along with the stomach distress, is a perplexing issue. There could be many causes, and I can't say for sure which one may be more likely in your wife's case. I looked at all her medications, and none of them seem to commonly cause this problem. GERD is a common cause of this problem, and so I my first thought would be to try to treat for that first, even without any other symptoms. Other possibilities are gum disease, zinc deficiency, thrush (which usually has white plaques on the tongue, patient on antibiotics can get this more easily), Vitamin B12 deficiency, and some autoimmune disorders such as Sjogren's syndrome. So I would suggest talking with her doctor about some of these possibilities, and probably they will want to try treating with a PPI medication like Prilosec first to see if that helps.
I hope that helps and that this improves for your wife. Please do feel free to keep me updated and let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help.
