For About 3-4 Days Now I Have Been Experiencing Sensitivity

Question: For about 3-4 days now I have been experiencing sensitivity issues with my stomach when eating. The first few days I experienced diarrhea a few times a day. It has somewhat subsided, however, I still have a %E2%80%9Cfull%E2%80%9D feeling in my stomach and get abdominal cramps shortly after eating almost anything. I put myself on the BRAT diet yesterday to try and calm things down. Other than diarrhea I have had excessive burping and occasional heartburn. I dont know if it%E2%80%99s worth noting, however, on Thursday this past week I experienced a panic attack. I also took a Rexall brand of 5mg melatonin last Sunday evening for the first time and did not like how it made me feel the next day (hazy, fatigued) so I did not continue use after that. I dont have the greatest health insurance so I wanted to get an opinion first before going to see the doctor if this is something I should have checked out or that will more than likely resolve itself. I generally have normal bowel movements so this is not the usual for me. Yesterday, I had 4 Pepto-Bismol chewable tablets an hour before dinner. Today, this was my first bowel movement. Unsure if this is cause for concern or due to the medicine. Please advise. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Stop melatonin it increases l tryptophan level causing nausea.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks choosing HealthcareMagic for your query.
Have gone through your details and i appreciate your concerns.

Most likely you are suffering from Acute Gastroenteritis. It is an intestinal infection marked by diarrhoea, cramps, nausea, vomiting, fever etc. However its not necessary that all symptoms are there in a single patient.Depending on the cause, viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear within one to three days after you're infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms last for 10 days.
Stop melatonin it increases level of l tryptophan which would cause more nausea/vomiting.

Treatment-

Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration–You need to drink more than usual to replace the fluids lost from vomiting and diarrhoea. Water is best, but you could also try fruit juice and soup.

Get plenty of rest.
If you feel like eating, try small amounts of plain foods, such as soup, rice, pasta and bread.
Use special rehydration drinks made from sachets electral solution to maintain depleted electrolyte levels in serum.
Take anti-vomiting medication (such as zofran 4 mg twice ) and antidiarrhoeal medication (such as loperamide upto 16 mg a day) .
If not relieved after 10 days visit a doctor.

As off now follow what I said you would be fine soon.
Stop melatonin.

Thanks!

Thank you for your prompt response. I also forgot to mention I started taking these probiotics today as I thought it might help support good gut health. In your opinion, would this still be okay to take considering my current condition?
