For How Many Days Does The Effect Of I Pill Remain?
Question: I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend(25y) on 31.10.14(1pm)then she took an ipill on 1.11.14(10pm) then we had unprotected sex again on 3.11.14(11pm)in the heat of the moment. She has 28-31days cycle with duration of 6-7days and her last period was on 30.10.14. Will she have to take another pill?
Brief Answer:
second ipill not required
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for contacting health care magic.
With her LMP being 30/10/14, i hope you are right about that . Because then she was in her safe periods or probably menstruating. With that history even ipill was not required. Now that she has taken it , fine. It will protect her from your second intercourse as well.
She need not take another ipill.

There's been a mistake. The LMP is 22.10.14 and not 30.10.14.
Brief Answer:
second ipill is still not required
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the follow up.
With 22/10/14 as LMP , and considering 28 days cycle, she should ovulate by 5th /11/14. So if sex was on 31st and 3 /11/14, still she was in her safe period.
She has taken the ipill on 1/11/14 and it has to be taken within 72 hrs of first intercourse. it is effective for subsequent intercourse in next 72 hrs after intake as well as it withdraws the progesterone causing a withdrawal and making endometrium unfit for implantation. So still a second ipill is not required.
