For The Last 2 Months I Have This Pressure On

default
Posted on Sun, 3 May 2020
Question: For the last 2 months I have this pressure on the roof of my mouth, nose around ears and behind eyes/forehead while talking. It makes talking weird. No one has noticed anything wrong with my speech. The pressure sometimes feels like stiffness inside the cheeks and also jaw pressure.

I also am biting my tongue like 3-5 times a day and have extra saliva in my mouth.

I am not sure whats actually causing this. Should I go and see a specialist for the same?

Do you think this is TMJ?

Could this be some neurological issue (I googled for the same and found some articles which said could be neurological)?
This has led to massive anxiety and i am hyper focused on my mouth and speech.

My mouth muscles are super tensed for most part of the day. These come and go and not present through out the day but I have it every day.

No issues will swallowing or chewing but only while I talking I get this pressure.

I also get pressure behind my ears and around my ears and back of my nose.

Brief Answer:
Can be a Sinus related issue

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Well if there is only pressure and the areas you explained can be related to sinus problem.

Also it seems that you are stressed due to it..

TMJ problem seems less likely however a clinical examination and a sinus x ray can help in confirmation..

For now you can try doing steam inhalations
Use nasal spray like Otrivin.
Also you need to relax and try deep breathing and meditation to calm down..

Proceed for the clinical examination to an ENT Physician for a proper diagnosis..

Hope I have answered your question..

Please revert back for more information..

Why not a tmj issue? Is it because I don’t have the clicking sensation?

How is tmj diagnosed?

Brief Answer:
Looks more like Sinus issue

Detailed Answer:
Hi..

Well as you have pressure on roof of mouth, behind the eyes, forehead and many other areas, it looks more like Sinus related..

So a clinical examination and x ray can help in better ruling out of the cause .

Also can you please tell that do you experience any pain while eating or chewing?

Any bite changes ?

I get a weird sensation while talking, like my roof of my mouth feels some tightness or some pressure which spreads to ears and forehead and back of the nose. Nothing while eating (sometimes do feel the pressure)

Any bite changes ?
What do you mean by bite changes?

1.) So what could be causing the pressure/stiffness in soft palate, cheeks region?

2.) Can TMJ affect speech due to the facial pressure?

3.) Can TMJ cause tongue biting or is it anxiety?

Brief Answer:
Pressure might be caused due to SInus pressure or other causes

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Well pressure on soft palate and cheeks can be caused due to SInus pressure or other causes, however a clinical examination and x ray can help in confirming the exact cause..

Also TMJ can affect speech in some cases where there is disturbance in jaw movement or alignment of jaw..

Anxiety can cause tongue biting , do you bite your tongue during day or night??

Please write back..

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Yes, anxiety can be one of the causes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Yes, anxiety can be one of the causes of tongue biting...

First of all, please calm down...

Start meditating and deep breathing exercises to help you calm yourself down.

Also, get examined by a physician once for more clarity on the symptoms...

But still would like to inform you not to worry as it does not seem anything very serious...

Regards
